A number of Knoxville-area groups are teaming up to reinforce the importance of recycling.

On Saturday morning, representatives from various groups set up shop at the Market Square Farmers Market as part of a local America Recycles Day event.

At the event, organizers handed out recycling bins to visitors such as Cindy Bensey. "I hate throwing things away, you know-- things that can be used again," Bensey said.

Bensey has lived in North Knoxville for four years and is now part of the city's curbside recycling program.

"When I first moved into my house, I had to take my recycling to a drop-off center," Bensey said, "either by a grocery store or one of the city collection centers, so that was a little more of a hassle."
