Mocs' Jones-Chadwell Score Another Win Over Ranked Doubles Duo
TUSCALOOSA, AL (GoMocs.com)---The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis team wrapped up fall action with another solid day of results at the Roberta Alison Fall Classic in Tuscaloosa, Ala. The Mocs won three of five singles and had two big wins in doubles competition today.
Senior Kaylene Chadwell and junior Kayla Jones teamed up for another win over a ranked opponent. They defeated Georgia Tech's No. 26-ranked duo of Kendall Woodward and Johnnise Renaud (8-4). The Mocs tandem can add that to their win over Ole Miss's 51st-ranked doubles team yesterday.
Junior Katie Polk and freshman Samantha Caswell had the other doubles win. They came back from down a break to defeat Alabama's Carmen Blacno and Bennett Dunn (8-7 (6)) in a tiebreaker.
Jones had a great win in singles to go with her doubles victory. She scored a 7-6, 6-4 win over Georgia Tech's Alexi Prokopuik. Junior Alison Storie came back from down a set to beat Samford's Lauren Caballero (3-6, 6-2, 6-4). Senior Jovana Pecovski had the other win in singles, a (6-1, 6-1) victory over Tulane's Zoe Garber.
“It was great to wrap up play on a positive note,” stated head coach Jeff Clark. “We got some positive results and definitely have something to build on heading into the spring.”
The Mocs are off for the rest of the semester, but will be back on the court in January when the spring dual season begins. Be sure to check back to GoMocs.com in the coming weeks for the full schedule.
