(WXIA) -- It takes just a few seconds for someone to essentially copy your credit card. It happens at restaurants, movie theaters -- even fast food restaurants. Most times, you have no idea that it's happened.

Emily Smith says at first, a phone call to her husband from the bank made no sense.

"There had been some suspicious activity on his card and had we spent this amount of money at Publix, which we had not," Smith said.

It was no small charge on the card.

"There had been almost $400 taken out of his account," Smith said.

Clearly someone had stolen money from the Smith's credit card, but Smith says confusingly, the card was still in her husband's wallet.
