You can always count on a great show from the Gordon Lee Marching Trojans Band, and let me tell you, this year was no exception. The group, numbering just over a hundred this year, performed a halftime show entitled: Arabian Nights. It included that song and "Prince Ali" from Disney's Aladdin, the theme from the motion picture Laurence of Arabia, and closed with "Bacchanale" from the opera Samson and Delilah by Camille Saint-Saëns.
Director Burt Haynes, a graduate of Gordon Lee, himself, tells us it is a privilege to be teaching such a great group of students. "Outstanding student leaders," he added, "make my job a lot easier."
They had a full year, too. The Marching Trojans Band played all football games, home in Chickamauga, and traveled to away games. They also participated and placed well in three marching contests.
If you would like to help the group out, they have an outstanding treat for the holidays. As a fundraiser, Mr. Haynes tells us they will be selling Cityscape coupon books that offer discounts at merchants all across he region. For more information, or to purchase, call Gordon Lee and ask to be connected to the band room.
Enjoy our Band fo the Week, the Gordon Lee Marching Trojans Band, as they play and sing!
