Teen charged with killing bobcat out of season

Posted: Updated:
TULLAHOMA, TN (AP) - The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency says they have charged a juvenile with killing a bobcat out of season after the animal was found hanging from the goalpost of the Tullahoma High School practice football field.

TWRA spokesman Doug Markham told The Tullahoma News (http://bit.ly/1tHuDtU) that the teen was not charged with hanging the animal and the agency didn't know who was responsible for that act.

If convicted, the youth faces a $50 fine and court costs.

Markham says it will be up to the school whether to pursue charges for hanging the animal on the goalpost. The school's mascot is the wildcat.

Students found the dead animal Tuesday. Tullahoma High and Coffee County Central High are scheduled to play Friday in the 89th annual Coffee Pot Rivalry football game.
