MT. JULIET, TN (AP) - Dozens of restaurant servers in Middle Tennessee have an extra $100 thanks to the efforts of a local church.
WKRN-TV (http://bit.ly/1zIIGnm) reports more than 200 members of Friendship Community Church in Mt. Juliet split into teams Tuesday evening and visited dozens of local restaurants where they left $100 in addition to a 20 percent tip. They called the effort Big Tip Tuesday.
Todd Stevens, who participated in the event, says the church wants to participate in acts of kindness that will meet needs and help them connect to more people in the community.
Church members say they gave out a total of about $3,000 to servers at randomly chosen restaurants.
