A 37-year-old woman remains in jail Monday morning after Chattanooga police say she shot her boyfriend after chasing him a couple of blocks.

Nadia Hatten is being held on a $275,000 bond and faces a count of attempted first degree murder.

Hatten's boyfriend, Kevin Smith, told police Hatten shot him in the left leg Sunday. He was treated and released from Erlanger, according to the affidavit of complaint.

Police searched Hatten's' residence where they found a loaded 9mm SCCY handgun as well as a spent cartridge.

Hatten told police that she felt threatened by Smith and claimed he has a history of domestic violence.

Hatten chased Smith a couple of blocks until she reached the corner of West 38th Street and Kirkland Avenue. She ran up to Smith and fired numerous shots which were caught on video belonging to a near by business.

"The victim did not appear to present a threat to the suspect, there appeared to be no justification for this shooting," according to the affidavit.

Hatten is scheduled to appear in Hamilton County General Sessions Court Nov. 4 before Judge David Bales.
