PREVIOUS STORY: Chattanooga Police are investigating an early morning shoting.  It happened around 3 a.m. Sunday morning at the Golden Gateway Apartments on Grove Street.

Two people were taken to the hospital, both victims are in critical condition.

Channel 3 spoke to one nearby resident who says he's not surprised about the shooting. But isn't letting his close proximity to it make him scared.

Tim Mayben says he's lived near Grove Street for several years.

"It's quiet, very quiet. We don't see much trouble," said Tim Mayben,

But on Sunday morning, shots rang through the neighborhood. Leaving two in critical condition and some neighbors on edge.

But not Mayben, he isn't surprised by the violence.

"There's too much trouble in the world to have shootings over minor things," said Mayben.

He just wishes it would stop.

"That's why we stay to ourselves," said Mayben.

"It's safer that way to me, you don't have to put up with anything," said Mayben.

So it's business as usual.

"We'll still go for our walks, 3 or 4 times a day and stay out of trouble," said Mayben.

"We're here for a reason and it's not to hurt other people. Defend yourself, yes, hurting people no," said Mayben.

Police are still investigating at this time. No suspects have been identified.

Police say two people have been sent to local hospitals after suffering from gunshot wounds. Both are listed in critical condition. Their identity has not been released. No suspect information has been released.
