MARION COUNTY, TN (WRCB) - An economic boost is coming to Marion County!

It's part of a new residential development called Jasper Highlands.

Senators Bob Corker and Janice Bowling joined other area leaders Friday evening to break ground on the pavilion at Pat's Summit.

The development is expected to have a real impact on the local economy bringing more families to Marion County who will then, in turn, invest into local businesses.

The area has been given the nickname of “Mountaintop paradise” and is also known for its convince to the interstate.

Just a six minute drive from the mountain to Interstate 24.

Crews are already busy constructing brand new homes on the 9,000 acre development.

Developer John Thornton says the construction phase has already served as a boost to the area.

“There's a Lowe's right down at the base of the hill and a Tractor Supply, we also employing a lot of people from Marion County,” Thornton said.

Thornton says there are 20 home being built right now and are slated to be finished by the end of the year.
