Vacant home destroyed in fire

Posted: Updated:
CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) - Chattanooga firefighters responded to a vacant house fire about midnight Wednesday in the Highland Park area.

Responding firefighters were able to see the flames at 2014 Wilson Street from blocks away as they responded, according to CFD Captain Joey Smith

The house was fully engulfed in flames and could not be saved, according to a news release, so firefighters concentrated their efforts on containing the fire and keeping it from spreading to nearby houses.

The heat from the blaze melted some of the siding and the soffit on a nearby house, but the damage was limited.

The house was completely destroyed, with the dollar loss estimated at $60,000. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
