CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -
UPDATE: The victim in Wednesday's shooting has died. Chattanooga police have identified the victim as Kenny Breylon Hall, 24.
Witnesses describe a chaotic scene just moments after a man was seriously injured in a shooting in the parking lot of Shepherd Hills Apartment Complex off of Tunnel Boulevard.
Police say the call came in around 1:30 Wednesday afternoon. Witnesses tell police they saw the victim slumped over in a vehicle -- screaming for help. He was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Meanwhile the suspects -- remain at large.
"I saw the guy after he shot him I saw him walk through the back of the apartments then I looked in the car and saw a guy saying help," said Brittany Stamper.
Eyewitness Brittany Stamper told Channel 3 Eyewitness News she called 911, then stood by the victim, .a man she didn't know.
"I was telling him to breath and stay calm he was shaking his head he was like okay... okay and then a few minutes later after that he wasn't doing anything," said Stamper.
Police say a man opened fire in the back of apartment complex's parking lot. Neighbors heard several shots being fired.
The victim was found with life threatening gunshot wounds in the passenger side of a parked green car. Stamper says the victim was slouched over, holding his stomach with both of his pockets turned out.
"He was breathing and shaking his head and and then moments later I asked him are you still okay and he did a quick nod and after that nothing else. He was making no noises or movements at all he was just still and quit," said Stamper.
Police are searching the area with K-9 officers, looking for 3 to 4 suspects seen running from the crime scene. Officers say they're also interviewing witnesses and following leads.
So far no arrests have been made.
"We want the community to know that this is not something that happens very often and especially in the middle of the day, we are doing everything we can to respond immediately and be proactive," said Assistant Chief Tracy Arnold, Chattanooga Police.
Only a vague description of the suspects was given. The gunman was described as a black male slim build with shoulder length dread locks. Neighbors said he was wearing a red sweatshirt and black pants.
Police have not yet released the identity of the man who was shot. The victim was taken by ambulance to an area hospital, his condition is unknown. If you have any information that could help the investigators, call Chattanooga Police.
UPDATE: Chattanooga police are searching for 3-4 suspects they believe to be armed after an afternoon shooting that took place in the rear of the Shepard Hills Apartments on Tunnel Boulevard in Chattanooga.
The victim, who has not been identified, is said to have life-threatening injuries from the shooting.
Neighbors and witnesses tell Channel 3 they saw the victim slumped over in the passenger seat of a vehicle, screaming for help. The victim's pockets were turned inside-out according to eyewitnesses.
Multiple shots were heard, according to neighbors at the scene.
K-9 officers are helping in the investigation and searching around the complex for the suspects.
