Two Chattanooga firefighters were honored Wednesday by the the Hamilton Place Rotary Club at a luncheon at the Embassy Suites on Shallowford Road.

Chattanooga Fire Department Captain Ashley May and Lt. Alex Cole were named Firefighters of the Year, chosen for the honor following their successful rescue of a 66-year-old man from a duplex fire on Daisy Street on August 5, 2014.

As part of the partnership with the Chattanooga Fire Department, the Rotary Club donates $500 to the department in honor of the firefighters.

Fire Marshal Beau Matlock said the money will be used to purchase fire safety educational materials and smoke alarms.
