Chattanooga Airport officials say they'll continue trying to recruit airlines for nonstop service, despite being rejected for a federal grant.

Airport President Terry Hart says he plans to meet with United Airlines in the coming weeks to try and attract nonstop service between Chattanooga and New York and Houston.

Hart's pitch includes pledges of more than 100-thousand dollars from local businesses who also want the flights.

Chattanooga airport officials say New York is the most flown-to destination from Lovell Field, without a direct flight.
