Murphy man arrested for theft of travel trailer

CHEROKEE COUNTY, NC (WRCB) - The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office arrested of 57-year-old James Lenwood Odum on October 6 on charges stemming from a reported larceny of a travel trailer from the Hiwassee Dam Community.

Around 2:15 pm on December 19, 2013 a resident in the Hiwassee Dam Community reported the theft of a travel trailer. 

Officers with the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office identified Odum as a suspect in the larceny of the travel trailer after was shared.

During a criminal investigation by the Madisonville Tennessee Police Department Odum was found in possession of the stolen trailer and was arrested on charges in Tennessee.  

Odum waived extradition in Tennessee and was transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center on October 10 where he posted a $2,500.00 secure bond. 

Odum is scheduled to appear in Cherokee County District Court on October 21, 2014.
