Good Tuesday. The main impact from the overnight storms was heavy rain and street flooding. The wind damage and tornado threat stayed west, and by the time the storms reached us, they were rain makers, and that's about it. There was not even much lightning with the storms that moved through.
I don't expect any widespread flooding of rivers and streams. At South Chickamauga Creek, the flood stage is 18'. It is expected to crest sometime tomorrow at about 11.5'. With that said, localized street flooding could be an issue this morning. Go slow, and do not drive through standing water. Rainfall amounts ranged from 1" to 2" overnight in our area. In Middle Tennessee, the amounts were much more impressive. They had about 3" to 5" there.
For the rest of the day, you can expect on and off showers behind this main line through the morning. During the afternoon, the rain will end, and it will be breezy. Temperatures will actually cool a bit. It will be in the mid to upper 60s through most of the afternoon, dropping to about 60 by 9pm. We will continue to drop into the low 50s by Wednesday morning.
Wednesday afternoon will be cool and fall like. Highs will be in the mid 60s with the back side of this low pressure bringing a few additional scattered light showers to the area.
