Boutique hotel plans and Enclave approved by regional planning commission

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) - On Monday the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Regional Planning Commission approved  plans presented by Vision Hospitality Group for Chattanooga's first high-end independent boutique hotel and an Enclave at East Hamilton.

The Vision Hospitality Group's President and CEO Mitch Patel said his company's desire is to provide a “…unique and authentic” experience to guests staying at the hotel. Patel and his team met with various neighborhood groups; community associations; property and business owners to share their plans 

Thunnameded five-floor 90-room hotel will be located at 102 Walnut Street and anticipates a 2016 opening date. Valet parking to all  hotel guests and employees will be provided. Other amenities include a rooftop lounge, pool, spa and a small restaurant featuring a modern Southern menu that features locally grown food.

“Our goal with this project is to provide a destination for our guests. All of the independent research done shows that this is the highest and best use for the property. We are honored to have the support of the Commissioners of the Regional Planning Agency and look forward to our presentation to Members of the Chattanooga City Council,” said Patel.

On Monday the commission also approved an application for a project called “The Enclave at East Hamilton” and will be located at the corner of East Brainerd and Ooltewah-Ringgold Roads.

The project began as a mixed-use development with 250 luxury apartments located at the rear of the site. Since July 7, 16 community meetings have occurred that resulted in a development that now has limits on total square footage, a project that will be constructed in phases and the types of materials that will be used in the construction of businesses and retail on the site.  

“We began this process in strict opposition to the developer's plans. The neighborhood was adamantly against having apartments.  Our concerns started with the additional cars that would be using an already strained corridor as well as transient residents in our neighborhood.  The developer listened to our concerns, addressed and documented each point.  Now, we have a project that is worthy of the area,” said Mark West, Chair of the community group.
