Gilmer High School Marching Band
They are from the mountains of Ellijay, Georgia, and we caught up with them at Ridgeland High School in Rossville. The Gilmer High School Marching Band is around 120 members strong and, boy, do they have a great sound! Director Joe Pflueger tells us he has a great group of kids and he is proud of their progress, this year.
That progress will be tested tomorrow, Saturday the 11th, as they head to the Georgia Contest of Champions in Conyers. The show they will be performing is called The American West and features some very familiar tunes. The opener is the theme to The Magnificent Seven followed by Shenandoah, then Wagon Wheel, leading to the big closer: Battle Hymn of the Republic.
Not only does the group do home and away games and contests, the Gilmer High School Band is currently working to a big trip to New York City in the spring! The goal is to play at the Statue of Liberty. To help make all of this happen, they are running all sorts of fund raisers. If you would like to help out, they would love to talk to you!
