Chattanooga Pipes to Play Halftime at Mocs-Vols Game

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

When it comes to the world of competition piping and drumming, the City of Chattanooga Pipe Band is making its mark throughout the southeast. This Saturday they will be piping up on Rocky Top as the join the University of Tennessee Pride of the Southland Marching Band on the field at halftime. The bagpipe show is a perennial favorite for the Pride and includes the standards Appalachian Spring, Scotland the Brave, Loch Lomond, and closes with a powerful rendition of Amazing Grace.

This is homecoming weekend in Knoxville, so with the City of Chattanooga Pipe Band and the nearly 350 member strong Pride of the Southland will be the Alumni Band numbering more than 400.

This is not the only high-profile performance for for the City of Chattanooga Pipe Band. So far this year, they have placed first at the Rural Hill Scottish Festival, Loch Norman Highland Games, Smoky Mountain Highland Games, and the Greenville Scottish Games. Labeled 'the premier pipe band in Tennessee,' the group is ranked number one in the Southern Branch of the Eastern United States Pipe Band Association (EUSPBA).
