DALTON (WRCB) - A woman charged with killing a Dalton convenience store clerk is now facing an additional charge.

21-year-old Skyy Mims was charged earlier this week with tampering with government property while in jail. Officials tell Channel 3 she broke a sprinkler head in her cell, causing the cell to flood.

Mims is in the Whitfield County Jail awaiting trial in the stabbing death of 37-year-old Dahyabhai Chaudhari while he worked at the Kanku's Express on Airport Road in Dalton.

She is being held without bond. A trial date is set for November 3.

After two days on the run, U.S. Marshals located Mims at a home in Bartow County where she was taken into custody. Mims is charged with murder and armed robbery and could face the death penalty. Investigators also say Skyy Mims is tied to the murder scene for having stolen lottery tickets and money from the convenience store.

Mims' attorney and family say she is innocent.

"We plead not guilty because I believe that my client is absolutely innocent of these allegations. It's mis-identification," Mims' attorney, Carla Marable, said a hearing in August.
