Posted: Updated:

It is National Energy Awareness Month and WalletHub.com has released a list of the most energy efficient states.

Tennessee is not one of them.  In fact Tennessee ranks 36, Alabama ranks 29, Georgia 32 and North Carolina is the highest ranked in the Tennessee Valley at 22.

Energy is one of the biggest expenses for consumers.  WalletHub reports the average American households spends more more than $2,200 a year on energy bills.

WalletHub measured the energy efficiency of cars and homes in each of 48 states in order to encourage consumers to improve their own energy efficiency practices. You can find the results of the study at WalletHub.com
