City of Chattanooga, Community Partners Identifying Chattanooga's Homeless Veterans

Posted: Updated:
CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

Registry Week begins Monday October 13 and runs until Wednesday, October 15.

Registry Week is when Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke's office along with local agencies and community members will begin to register and survey Chattanooga's homelessness veterans.  During the three days, volunteers will go through out the city in the early morning hours.  They are wanting to gather an accurate list of identified veterans who are experiencing homelessness.

Registry Week is part of Mayor Berke's pledge to end chronic veteran homelessness. A pledge he made public in his first State of the City address in April of 2014.

Volunteers are needed to help conduct the survey.  Call Lasal Hines at  (423)567-3617 or sign up at https://tryount.wufoo.com/forms/chattanooga-registry-week-volunteer/.

Officials with Chattanooga Registry Week are asking landlords to donate housing units towards the efforts to house the most vulnerable homeless veterans in Chattanooga.
