Mocs Huesman doesn't mind averting shutout of VMI

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB)--For the first time since 1984, the UTC Football Mocs open their Southern Conference schedule 2 and 0, after thoroughly dismantling VMI Saturday at Finley Stadium.
It was a good showing on both sides of the ball for the Mocs, generating more than 500 yards on offense while scoring 8 touchdowns.
Defensively, the Mocs grounded the Keydets vaunted aerial assault, VMI scoring their lone touchdown with just 36 seconds left in the game.
Afterward, Mocs Head Coach Russ Huesman explains why he called off the dogs with a shutout of the Keydets so close.
" Yeah, I Think our defensive coaches were disappointed to be honest with you, I wasn't, we're not, I'm not out there to embarrass another team, Sparky Woods is a great coach and a great person , he's done way more in this business than I ever have."
Huesman's respect for Woods and his desire to play every eligible Moc factored into VMI's lone score.
Instead of Coach Woods, next week Huesman faces Vols Head Coach Butch Jones, after the Vols' tough loss to Florida Saturday 10-9.
Saturday's kickoff from Neyland Stadium is set for 4pm.
