CDC Meets Plane in Newark After Ebola Scare

Posted: Updated:

NBC News - A United Airlines jet carrying 269 passengers and crew was quarantined Saturday afternoon at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey after a passenger began vomiting on the plane, authorities and the airline said.

Passengers were later allowed to leave Flight 998 from Brussels, Belgium, and the sick passenger was being treated at a hospital.

The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said earlier Saturday that it was working to increase awareness of symptoms of the Ebola virus at U.S. airports and hospitals after Thomas Eric Duncan of Liberia flew into the U.S. last month and was subsequently diagnosed with the infection.
