On August first one man embarked on the journey traveling from Jackson, Michigan to Tampa, Florida on foot.

Roland Frasier is traveling 1,200 miles to help families dealing with cancer.

"I'm in no hurry, I'm taking my time. I figure I'm more than halfway there now," said Frasier.

With every foot step he's a little closer to healing.

"This is my grieving period. I do a lot of thinking while I'm walking down the road," said Frasier.

September 3rd would have been 20 years of marriage for Frasier and his wife, Shirley

"She taught me what real love was," said Frasier.

But 20 years came and went too quickly, once cancer entered her body for the third time.

"You feel like you're dying too, at the same time your mate is dying," said Frasier.

Frasier did all he could to help her, but not without financial help from the Mission of Hope Cancer fund.

"She would have missed half of her appointments because of gas mileage, it was only 12 miles," said Frasier. "But you add that up to gas mileage and it would eat your pocket out."
"If I couldn't have gotten her to her appointments, that would have broken my heart," said Frasier.

Now, since her passing, he walks.

His buddy “Wags” is right there with him as he journeys 1,200 miles from Michigan to Florida.

He's walking in the shoes of other families going through what his did and raising money so they can get what he received himself, just one year ago.

"That's why I wanted to do this walk, it gives me time to heal and makes my heart feel better," said Frasier.

Frasier hopes to reach Tampa, Florida in the middle of November.

By the end of his journey his goal is to raise a quarter of a million dollars.
