UAW continues bid to organize at Chattanooga VW

Posted: Updated:
CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) - The United Auto Workers Union (UAW) continues its bid to organize at Chattanooga's Volkswagen plant.

According to several automotive websites, two top German labor groups have signed a letter of intent backing the UAW and its effort to form a works council locally.

The latest move is a step toward UAW gaining bargaining rights to represent hourly workers at VW's only U.S. Plant.

Earlier this year, workers at the Chattanooga plant voted against UAW representation.

VW's Chattanooga plant is the company's only major factory without representation of a works council.
