City of Lookout Mountain adopts new net millage rate

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, GA (WRCB) - On Friday the city of Lookout Mountain, GA announced their adopted net millage rate of 8.925 mills for 2014. 

This rate will apply to real and personal property taxable by the city is an increase of .425 miles over the current 8.5 mill rate and will require an increase in property taxes by five percent. 

The net mileage rate includes a credit of 2.31 mills which property owners are receiving as a result of estimated Local Option Sales Tax Collections.

The public hearings on the proposed tax increase will be held at the Lookout Mountain City Hall on October 16 at 5 p.m., October 23 at 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. 

The public hearing on October 23 at 6 p.m. will be combined with a meeting of the Lookout Mountain City Council at which the city council will be setting the millage rate. 

All citizens and interested parties are invited and encouraged attend.

    Chief David Roddy took about two dozen people on a tour of the department's Real Time Intelligence Center (RTIC).  RTIC was unveiled back in March. It's a place where investigators can monitor real time cameras, review video footage and store digital data.
