Friday rain gives way to a dry, cool weekend

Posted: Updated:
CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) - Changes are coming to the Tennessee Valley! But before the cool air settles in we will see some showers and storms Friday.

There's a chance for some strong winds along the Cumberland plateau and northwest Georgia as the storms move in. These storms will develop before the sunrise today in advance of a cold front. The storms will continue to move through our viewing area through the morning, clearing Murphy near noon. Another storm is possible late afternoon/early evening as the front get closer, hopefully ending just before your high school football games. Bring a jacket to the games. As skies clear later in the evening it'll breezy with overnight lows in the 40s!

This weekend will be much cooler but rain-free. Highs only reach the middle to upper 60s. Lows will be dropping down into the upper 30's and lower 40s Saturday night. Some rural spots may see patchy light frost Sunday morning.

Monday looks quiet with partly cloudy skies and highs returning to the 70s. Look for showers Tuesday, ending Wednesday. Then Thursday should be sunny and warmer with highs near 80°.
