Athletes compete in Special Bowlympics

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) - Hixson Holiday Bowl had dozens of athletes compete in the area's Special Bowlympics annual bowling tournament.

About 35 bowlers ages 22-to-29-year old aimed for the pins and were bowling strikes and spares all day.

Athlete Sam Reeves came in third place, with a score of 255. " I do track and field, bowling, swimming"

Judy Rogers, area director, " Well these athletes need to have opportunities just like everybody else.  Variety, pick the things they like to do best."

the winning bowler scored a 265.  Sam says he's trying to also take up snow skiing for next year.  Those athletes 30 years of age and older compete Monday.
