Two Hamilton County deputies are injured in what began as a search for stolen property but turned into a meth bust Thursday.
The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office was looking for stolen property at a residence on Gates Road when a meth lab was located in the garage.
Several more meth labs were discovered in the woods behind the house.
As officers continued to search the rest of the area, they received information that two suspect could be found at a house also on Gates Road,  a couple of blocks away.
Twenty-six year old Jeremy Cross was found inside the second house on Gates Road.  Thirty-one year old Scotty Higgins was found hiding in the attic of the second house.
Higgins was thought to have a weapon and deputies returned to the attic area to search for the possible weapon.  While in the attic, a meth lab placed under insulation spilled exposing two deputies to the chemicals and one also suffered burns to an arm and leg.
Both deputies received medical attention at an area hospital.

Jeremy Cross is charged with Manufacturing Methamphetamine.

Scotty Higgins is charged with Manufacturing Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, two counts of Felony Reckless Endangerment, Vandalism and Felony Possession of Methamphetamine.

Both were taken to the Hamilton County Jail.
