KNOXVILLE (WBIR) - Control of the U.S. Senate is up for grabs in this November's election and candidates across the country are already entrenched in some furious campaigns.

You might not know it if you live in Tennessee. The race between Republican incumbent U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander and the Democratic nominee, Knoxville attorney Gordon Ball, is seemingly just getting started.

Alexander made a few campaign stops on Monday in East Tennessee. He rallied what was mostly a crowd of fellow republicans leaders during lunch at the Crown Plaza in Knoxville.

So far, Alexander and Ball have only taken a few swings at each other, mostly during interviews with reporters. Alexander has called Ball "one more vote for Barack Obama" while Ball has said "If you want to change Washington, you've got to change the people in Washington."
