Grady Health System gets $30 million grant

ATLANTA (AP) - Atlanta's Grady Health System is getting a big grant to help expand its emergency center and to improve its outpatient neurology services.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports ( ) The Marcus Foundation is giving Grady $30 million.

Of that, $20 million go toward a new $76 million emergency center. The remaining $10 million will be used to renovate the hospital and establish a multi-disciplinary outpatient center.

The Marcus Foundation has given $50 million to Grady since 2009.

The Marcus Foundation was founded by Bernie Marcus, co-founder of the Home Depot.

Expansion of the emergency department began in March and is set to be done in 2016. A start date hasn't been set for work to start on The Marcus Stroke and Neuroscience Center expansion.
