Tennessee Valley Welcomes Pride of the Southland

Posted: Updated:

An orange and white-clad crowd assembled in Miller Park, Friday, to welcome the University of Tennessee Pride of the Southland Marching Band to Chattanooga.

From 'Go!' cheers to Rocky Top, halftime tunes to traditional songs, the 340-plus member band played and twirled to the delight of hundreds of Volunteer fans of all ages. The crowd was invited to sing and clap and sway along, and those who had scored orange and white shakers gladly obliged.

For the UTK faithful who could not attend, Photojournalist Jared Guest captured the sights and sounds of the downtown Chattanooga Big Orange pep rally.

This annual free concert is a 30-plus year traditional stop on the way to away games in either Georgia or Alabama. The Volunteers face the 12th ranked Bulldogs at noon on Saturday, "between the hedges" in Athens.
