CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -  A Chattanooga teen has been sentenced to 9 years in federal prison for his involvement in an attempted robbery at a local jewelry store.

Nineteen-year-old Diontre Danforth pleaded guilty to the attempted murder and robbery charges against him.

Police say Danforth and 25-year-old Gerald Jackson entered Kennedy Jewelry on East Main street in August of last year, and began shooting.

The owner of the store returned fire, causing the suspects to flee.

The owner suffered a minor injury in the shootout.

Jackson was not in court Thursday.
