Woman who killed mother to kidnap her children has history of violence and crime

HIXSON, TN (WRCB) -

Accused murderer Catherine Goins was not a stranger to law enforcement. Before Friday's shooting, her most recent arrest in Hamilton County was in 2010.

At the time of her arrest, Goins was living in Hixson with her teenage daughter but moved around several times in her past.

Catherine Goins, 37, was arrested six times by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office during the past 16 years. Her most serious charge before the fatal shooting arrest is of domestic violence assault.

According to her most recent marriage license, Catherine was born in New York State. It is unclear when she moved down south, but her first marriage was to a man from Fort Oglethorpe, GA.

Catherine then married her second husband, a Hixson man, in July 2005 and divorce papers have never been filed through the Hamilton County clerks office.

Catherine most recently had a relationship with Tony Richards, the owner of the Smoketree Circle home where the murder took place.

As for the victim, 30-year-old Natalia Roberts, the Catoosa County Sheriff said she had never met Goins before the day of her murder.

Roberts was a single mother of three young girls. She left her Facebook page open to public and did what many mothers do on Facebook, she used humor and talked about her kids.

In fact, the last Facebook post she left was the day before she died. Roberts updated everyone on her 3-week old daughter, Addisyn, including how big she was getting.

She ended the post by saying, "so happy with my girls."
