UPDATE: Former Hamilton County deputy makes first appearance in court

UPDATE (10/3/14):  A former Hamilton County Sheriff's deputy, accused of kidnapping made his first appearance in federal court this week.

Willie Greer was indicted last month on charges of civil rights violation, kidnapping and possessing a gun during the commission of a crime.

The judge set a $30-thousand bond.

Greer was dismissed in January after he reportedly forced a female driver he pulled over for speeding, to perform a sexual act on him while she was handcuffed.

He's due back in court in November.

CHATTANOOGA, TN (AP) - A federal grand jury in East Tennessee has indicted a former Hamilton County sheriff's deputy on charges of civil rights violation, kidnapping and possessing a gun during the commission of a crime.

The Justice Department says 33-year-old Willie Greer was indicted Tuesday in Chattanooga. According to the indictment, he is accused of sexually assaulting a woman on Jan. 5 while on duty as a deputy with the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, violating her constitutional due process rights to bodily integrity.

It wasn't immediately clear whether Greer had an attorney.
