UPDATE: Arrest made in East Ridge break-ins

Posted: Updated:
UPDATE (10/3/14) East Ridge Police has made an arrest in connection with a string of residential burglaries.
Thirty-one year old Thomas Davenport was arrested Friday.  Davenport has outstanding warrants  in Hamilton County and faces pending burglary charges in East Ridge.

East Ridge Police are on high alert, after eight burglaries in just 12 days.

Half of them are traced back to one area near Maple Creek lane, and it's left residents wary.

Janice Smith is using house hold items as a security system, to alert her of an intruder. Her home was broken into last month, leaving her door burst in and her TV missing.

Now, with another string of burglaries surrounding her home, she's on high alert.

"I am living like a crack head," said Janice Smith. "I got something extra up to my windows so you can't see in and I got it taped down the sides."

"I struggled and got everything I got. It wasn't easy, but I sure don't want no body taking nothing from me, it's mine," said Smith.

While material things can be replaced, her sense of security can't.

Smith says she's unsure if the person who broke into her home is related to the recent rash of burglaries, but she's not planning to stick around to find out.

"I've really have got to get out of this place because it's not secure and I don't feel safe here anymore," said Smith.

The East Ridge Police Department currently has no leads.

If you have any information on these burglaries, you're asked to call the east ridge police department.
