CHEROKEE COUNTY, NC (WRCB) -
Three people were arrested in North Carolina, charged with drug violations and fugitive warrants Tuesday.
The Cherokee County (NC) Sheriff's office arrested:
Kenneth Ryan Jones, 20, of Murphy, NC
David Benjamin Highsmith, 24, of Blue Ridge, GA
Sherry Marie Brooks, 21, of Blue Ridge, GA
On Monday, sheriff's deputies executed a search warrant at a Murphy, NC home, as they attempted to find Highsmith and Brooks, both wanted for various felony charges in surrounding states, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff's office.
Highsmith was wanted in both Fannin County, GA for felony possession of a schedule II controlled substance and in Polk County, TN for felony aggravated assault.
Brooks had a felony warrant from Fannin County, GA for felony possession of a schedule II controlled substance.
As deputies took Highsmith and Brooks into custody, they found a 45 caliber handgun in Highsmith's possession; 9 grams of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were also found and seized.
Jones was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia, having been released from jail earlier in the day on unrelated charges.
Highsmith and Brooks were charged with possession with the intent to manufacture, sell or deliver methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and fugitive from justice.
Both are being held on a $12,000.00 secure bond.
