Tennessee police investigating alleged cancer scam
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Police in Tennessee are looking for anyone who gave money to or held a fundraiser for a woman charged with falsely claiming she had cancer and asking for money to help pay for treatment.
The Leaf-Chronicle reported (leafne.ws/1DoGwsC) that Clarksville detectives want information from anyone who came in contact with 35-year-old Kristin Hines.
Hines is charged with one count of forgery for faking signatures of doctors at Gateway Medical Center and Vanderbilt University Medical Center on documents claiming her diagnosis and treatment.
Sgt. Charles Gill says Hines posted the forged documents on Facebook to advertise being a cancer patient and collected donations at a benefit in her honor at Warehouse Bar and Grill
