The iPhone fever hit Chattanooga Friday morning as hundreds camped out in long lines to buy the new device.

The new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus went on sale at 8 a.m. Friday. More than 50 people stretched around both the AT&T store on Gunbarrel Road and the Verizon store on Highway 153.

"I'm always happy with Apple products. I have Apple everything so I can't wait to get my hands on the new one," said Susan Nicholas.

Susan Nicholas and her friend were in line before 1 p.m. Thursday afternoon. They were first in line as others began trickling in Thursday evening and overnight Friday. The "early adopters" were early risers Friday who were sleeping in cars and chatting up strangers who just can't wait to have the next thing.

"I have an iPhone 5 so I'm excited about a new touch ID, the new camera, slightly bigger screen. I'm getting the non-plus so I'm excited about it," said Bradley Chambers.

The new phone is faster, has a better camera and is bigger. Most people in line say they want the iPhone 6 Plus. Alan Hagermaker at the Hixson Verizon store said the primary features are the speed and screen size.

"The regular 6 has a 4.7" screen and the 6 Plus has a 5.5" screen," said Zach Barfield.

If the nighttime wait game sounds fun, you'll have another chance early next year for the debut of the Apple Watch.
