Police arrested a violent sex offender Thursday after he violated terms of his release.

Ronnie Darrell Walden, 33, was convicted of criminal attempt to commit rape in 2002, according to records.

State records show Walden absconded.

In Tennessee, serious sex crimes including rape and aggravated sexual battery, result in community supervision for life.

Conditions are established to, “protect the public from the person committing a new sex offense, as well as promoting the rehabilitation of the person,” according to state law.

Walden is a Meigs County resident but works in Ooltewah.

As of Friday morning, he remained in custody.
