ATHENS, Ala. (AP) - The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has named a new resident inspector at the Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant near Athens.

The federal agency says Adam Ruh is taking over the position at the Tennessee Valley Authority plant in north Alabama.

Ruh was a civilian engineer with the Navy before joining NRC in 2012. He worked on submarines and aircraft carriers with the military.

Each U.S. nuclear plant has at least two resident inspectors to monitor operations for safety, and Browns Ferry has three.
