KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) - A 57-year-old Memphis, Tennessee, man has been charged in connection with the rape of a woman in western Michigan at knifepoint six years ago.
Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette and Kalamazoo County Prosecutor Jeff Getting announced Monday that Calvin Kelly is charged with kidnapping, three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of attempted criminal sexual conduct.
He was arrested Tuesday in Tennessee and will be transported to Michigan after waiving extradition. The Associated Press sent a message to find out whether he has a lawyer.
Schuette's office says the victim flagged down a Kalamazoo police officer on U.S. 131 in 2008 and reported the rape.
Kelly's arrest followed an investigation by the Michigan's Attorney General Cold Case Sexual Assault Project team, Getting's office and Kalamazoo police.
