UPDATE: Victim ID'ed in fatal rafting accident

UPDATE: A 50-year-old North Carolina man has been identified as the victim of a fatal rafting accident Saturday on the Ocoee River in Polk County.

Gary Brown, of Clayton, N.C., and five other occupants on a guided rafting trip were ejected into the water when their raft overturned in a rapid, according to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.

Brown was unresponsive when he was pulled from the water farther downriver.

“Investigators report that he was wearing a life jacket and that there were no external injuries,” the TWRA news release states. “The accident is being ruled as an accidental drowning.
