Tenn. gets No Child Left Behind waiver

WBIR -- Tennessee won't face repercussions from the No Child Left Behind law for another year.

The U.S. Department of Education notified the state on Friday that it got a one-year extension.

Federal education officials said Tennessee's new academic standards, teacher training and teacher evaluation system led to the extension.

Forty-three states have No Child Left Behind waivers. Most of those expired this summer and 34 requested extensions.
