BRADLEY COUNTY, TN (WRCB) -
The Bradley County Sheriff's Office arrested two Detroit, Michigan men on drug charges on Monday.
Jerome Dillion and Irving Washington were charged with Possession of Schedule II drugs for Resale. Dillion was also charged with Following too Close.
On Monday morning, Bradley County officers stopped the white Lincoln after observing it following an SUV too closely traveling south on I-75. the driver of a vehicle travelling on I-75, and Irving Washington, his passenger
Invetsigators tell Channel 3 after speaking with Dillon who was the driver and Irving the pasenger, they noticed a strong odor of air freshener coming from the vehicle.
Police also say they recieved conflicting stories from the men about a trip from Michigan to Atlanta. After getting consent to search the vehicle, officers located a cardboard box in the trunk containing nine 16 ounce bottles of Promethazine Hydrochloride and Codeine Phosphate, a schedule II narcotic.
Washington told police he had a previous arrest for the sale of cocaine. Both men were booked into the Bradley County Justice Center.
“These medications can be abused, and are used in a syrup called ‘Purple Drank' on the street. Any amount we can keep out of the hands of our young people is a plus,” said Bradley County Sheriff Eric Watson.
