Injured Trojan released from hospital

SODDY DAISY, TN (WRCB)-- A sigh of relief comes from the Soddy Daisy Trojans after junior defensive back Jacob Lemons is released from the hospital after suffering a helmet to helmet hit Friday night.

It came during the Trojans 40-0 loss to the Ooltewah Owls.

Lemons was trying to stop Owls receiver Anthony Turner from scoring on Ooltewah's opening drive when the players' helmets collided.

Lemons lay motionless in the end zone, telling medics he couldn't feel anything on the right side of his body.

After a 25 minute play stoppage, Lemons was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Sunday, Soddy Daisy Head Coach Justin Barnes confirms Lemons was released from the hospital, with doctors reportedly not finding any damage to his spine.

Barnes says Lemons could play if he feels up to it against Cleveland.

The Trojans, now 2-1 with Friday's loss, have a bye week before their District 5-AAA game against the Blue Raiders.
