Missing woman with dementia found in East Ridge

EAST RIDGE, TN (WRCB) - On September 1, East Ridge Police officers were approached by a complainant advising that her 63-year-old mother who suffers from dementia walked off from her home on Village Lake Circle and had not returned.

ERPD began a search of the area around Camp Jordan for the missing person. Chattanooga Police, Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, East Ridge Fire Rescue, and Hamilton County S.T.A.R.S. were mobilized to assist in the search. 

Shortly after a command post was established at the Camp Jordan Arena, first responders received a call that an elderly and disoriented female had received minor injuries from a fall at an address on State Line Road. 

East Ridge Fire Rescue arrived on scene to treat the injuries and identified the fall victim as the missing edlerly woman.

Police later determined that two citizens saw the victim in the Ringgold Road and McBrien Road area and noticed she seemed confused and distressed. 

They checked on her and offered her a ride. The victim gave them directions to a house on State Line Road that was a former residence of hers. After arriving at this location, the victim slipped and fell.

She was transported to Parkridge East Medical Center by EMS for non-life threatening injuries.
