CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) - A Chattanooga woman is charged with filing a false report after telling police her stolen vehicle and a child was inside.

It happened around 12:20 Tuesday afternoon.

Thirty-two year old Letrice Patterson told Chattanooga Police, her silver 2010 Mercury Muron had been stolen from the Kangaroo on Shallowford Road and a 4-year-old child was in the car.

Officers surrounding areas and jurisdictions began searching for the child and the vehicle.

During the interview process with Patterson officials state it became apparent her story was not consistent.

The child was later found safe at school, having been dropped off by Patterson at 8:15 a.m.

Patterson was arrested and taken to the Hamilton County Jail, charged with filing a false report during a criminal investigation.

The vehicle has not been recovered and the investigation continues.
