Ironman Chattanooga to hold public meetings for residents

The community is invited to an Ironman Chattanooga meeting to hear directly from those involved in the race, and what the public can expect on race day.
Two public meetings are scheduled in Walker County on September 2nd, at the Mountain Cove Farms Show Barn, and on September 9th at the Chickamauga Civic Center. Both meetings will be held at 7:00 pm.
Representatives from Ironman, local law enforcement, and community leaders will be on hand for the meetings. Attendees will be given information on the Ironman event and will have the opportunity to ask questions.
The bicycle portion of the race is expected to bring more than 2,400 cyclists to the Walker County area.
The route includes a multiple 56-mile loop in the Flintstone, Chickamauga, and Cove areas of the community, including Highway 193 and 341.

Competitors will also face a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike and 26.2-mile run i the competition.

Officials in north Georgia are reminding motorists to expect delays race weekend as several roads will be closed throughout the duration of the race, including portions of Downtown Chickamauga.

Law enforcement and Ironman volunteers will be at intersections.

Ironman Chattanooga is scheduled for Sunday, September 28th.

The expected economic impact to the city will amount to about $8 million dollars.
