Officer pinned against car before chase

Posted: Updated:
WHITFIELD COUNTY, GA (WRCB) - A Whitfield County sheriff's detective is expected to be okay after he was pinned up against a car, driven by a suspect who was trying to run from police

Acting on a tip of drug activity, officers approached the person identified as Joseph Henderson, according to the Dalton Daily Citizen.

Henderson apparently threw his car in reverse, pinning the officer against a car, and dragging him. Henderson then fled in the vehicle down Dug Gap Road, leading police on a chase.

Officers believe the driver lost control and sideswiped a truck, sending the car into a utility pole and snapping it in half.

All involved were treated and released from the hospital.

Henderson faces several charges including aggravated assault on a police officer.
